Wow! ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Just finished a week's stay at The Quintessa on Whidbey Island, Washington state for a family reunion. One word: WOW.
The property is amazing and so spacious and so much to offer. There were 24 people ranging from couples, grandparents, teens, families and cousins. Everyone had a bed and lots more people could have stayed in the other beds around the house. We had the whole house with 3 floors (not the cottage, more about that later) and the house itself had everything you could want. The beds ranging from king, queens and twins (bunks too) were comfy. Lots of warm bedding and pillows provided, and plenty of towels. I even noticed a room with a crib in the closet for use (we didn't have any babies but great to know for next time!) Bathrooms were large especially with the tween/teen girls we had with us. Hot water is on demand (euro style) and can get super hot (no complaints here!). Breakfast and dinners were made at the house, and we appreciated the 3 sinks in the kitchen (we made a huge mess every meal cooking for our small army). The kitchen came with all utensils and appliances you could ask for including 3 coffee makers, 2 convection ovens, and even a professional grade chef gas stove. The dishwasher was kept running all week with no problems. It really felt that what ever we needed, we could find in the cupboards (even 2 crock pots) and felt like being at "home" which is what we wanted!
All other common areas were huge and comfortable (we had most meals downstairs where we could accommodate everyone with the the tables and chairs). Downstairs even had an air hockey table. Wifi was fast and was surprised they had cable TV, but since there was so much to do around the island, we never really watched TV! The warm fireplace in the living room was awesome to have, and we even fired up the BBQ outside in 32 degree weather. The outside of the house is amazing as well with ponds, woods and lots of walking trails. We even let the little ones hike around the trails of the property (as young as 11 years old) with no problems at all. I could imagine how magical the Quintessa could be for weddings~they have a beautiful gazebo for events and lots of upper story balconies for views of the mountains and the water (we got some incredible pictures of the snow capped mountains and the sunset/sunrises from the property).
The owners are extremely hardworking to accommodate all of our requests and needs (and believe me, we ask for a lot!) but they always made everything happen with a smile. We appreciated all of the small touches as well such as bottled water at bedside, sightseeing suggestions, making sure they were in contact for any questions, etc). We didn't have use of the cottage, but I asked the owners for a quick tour, and they showed me around. The cottage is next door, can fit 2-4 people (best really for a couple)(jetted tub included!) Full kitchen, great views. Would definitely love to come back for a long romantic weekend and stay at the cottage! If I had any complaints at all about the property it's that I wish I could definitely come back and see it in the Spring or Summer when I'm sure the Quintessa would be even more special! The owners and their property absolutely made our family reunion extremely magical, and we will be back!
PS: We toured all over the island with lots of highlights: Langley was our favorite town, Coupeville was cute - Deception Pass incredible. Also went to Fort Casey which the kids enjoyed and even stopped at the big thrift store in Freeland (it's a good one!) Bavarian Village of Leavenworth was just 2 hours away. We even went to the beach that was a nice 20-25 minute stroll from the Quintessa and can't want to see it in the summer! Whidbey Island has so much to offer, we can't wait to come back! Thank you The Quintessa for an amazing stay! We are already planning our next family reunion there!
